Official: Porsche working on a hybrid version of the 911

It�s not a secret anymore that Porsche will debut the all-new 911 (dubbed 991) this September, at the 2011 Frankfurt Motor Show, right? Meanwhile, we found out that Porsche is working on a hybrid version of the 991, according to unofficial sources. How we know this? Apparently, the test mules spotted in California were recently spied at a gas station. Of course, there is nothing weird about this, but according to people who saw the test mule, the car was not making any noise when it appeared at the gas station. This confirms all the rumors about a hybrid version of the 911.

This means that the new 911 will be the third hybrid model that will join the Porsche lineup. The first hybrid model introduced on the market by Porsche was the Cayenne S Hybrid, while the second one was the Panamera S Hybrid, which made its debut this month at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show. For those who don�t know, the Panamera S Hybrid comes with the same engine as the Cayenne S Hybrid, which means it is powered by a V6 engine delivering 333 hp (245 kW) and supported by a 47 hp (34 kW) electric motor.

The car delivers a total output of 380 hp (279 kW), enough to push the car from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 6.0 seconds and to a top speed at 270 km/h (168 mph). The Panamera S Hybrid delivers an impressive fuel consumption of 6.8 l/100 km (41.54 mpg imp.) of fuel based on the NEDC and CO2 emissions of just 159 g/km.
