Honda to resume normal production levels in Turkey and UK by September

In September, Honda�s operations will go back to normal in its factories in the United Kingdom and in Turkey. The shortages in auto components due to the earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan last March had adversely affected the production levels of the company. The executive vice president of Honda Motor Europe, Ken Keir, disclosed in a statement last Friday that the company�s manufacturing operations in Europe is now making plans to return to normal.

Honda is currently planning for production for the rest of the year as the supply of parts from Japan has improved �significantly.� This will allow the company to recover volume and to respond quickly to the demands of the customers, the company stated.

The company�s plant in Swindon, England, will still build the CRV, Civic and Jazz models twice a week until September. Next week, the factory will be shut for a normal holiday period. In August, it will also be closed for two weeks for the summer break. The UK factory has 3,000 employees. Similarly, the Turkish factory of Honda in Gebze will resume normal daily production of Civic sedan, which is locally produced, in September. The European new car sales record of Honda in the first four months was 58,971 units, a 17.1 drop compared to the results in 2010, according to European automakers association ACEA.
