After last weeks teaser, Aston Martin unveiled today the impressive V12 Zagato endurance racer concept, its latest masterpiece which will make its debut at the Villa D'Este Concours tomorrow. According to the manufacturer, work at the Aston Martin V12 Zagato began back in 2010, when the first sketches with the new vehicle were presented. As expected, the car features a handcrafted aluminum body and each front wing alone comprises seven separate pieces of aluminum.
Under the hood we find the impressive 6.0-litre V12 engine producing 510 bhp (380 kW / 517 PS), and 570 Nm (420 lb ft) of torque. Moreover, the all-new V12 Zagato marks the 50th anniversary of the iconic DB4GT Zagato, shown back in 1960. For those who dont know, the DB4GT Zagato spent its life as a racing car and two most famous DB4GT Zagatos, registered '1 VEV' and '2 VEV' were raced with success by such names as Jim Clark and Roy Salvadori. The V12 Zagato will also make its racing debut at the four hour VLN race at Nrburgring on 28th May. The cars will be driven by a team with great experience of Aston Martin race cars, led for the sixth year by Chief Executive Dr. Ulrich Bez.
Dr Ulrich Bez, CEO of Aston Martin said: "The Zagato design language is a perfect complement to our design and engineering expertise. After 50 years of the two companies being associated with each other the partnership has produced some of the world's most iconic cars." [via - 4wheelsnews]
