Ford�s Facebook Fans Choose �Mayhem� Moniker for the Mustang V6 Performance Package

Ford held a contest on its official Mustang Facebook page asking fans to suggest a name for the new V6 Performance Package. More than 3,000 submissions were made and nearly 6,700 users installed the �You Name It� app that let them take part in the contest. Some 1.4 million fans were then asked to vote with the winning name being �Mayhem Mustang Package�. The top-voted submission came from Jeremy Marler from North Carolina, who won a three-year lease on a 2012 Mustang, equipped of course with the Mayhem Mustang Package.

Inspired by a scene from the upcoming Fast Five film or as some fans refer to it, Fast and Furious 5, in which the protagonists try out different cars to find the right one for a risky heist, the folks over from Autotopia set out to test numerous tuned cars on a race track to see which one is best suited for the task.

The cars they chose for the test include the AE Performance Nissan 370Z used in the movie Fast Five; Autotopias� Ford Cargo Van; DC Motors Mercedes Benz CLK63 AMG Black Series; Gintani BMW X5M; Heintz Ford Mustang GT 5.0; MFEST E60 BMW M5; OE Tuning Mercedes Benz C63 AMG; Airtiger Express Nissan GTR R35; Tesla Motors Roadster Sport and finally, the Team Wu Dodge Charger Police Car.

The first special edition Mustang Boss 302 was unveiled back in 1969. It was the only time the 302 was approved for production and would be the only time until 42 years later. Today, the Boss man returns in the base form of a 2011 Mustang GT. Ford is not only bringing out a Boss, but they are also revealing a special edition Boss 302 Laguna Seca model, named for the track where Parnelli Jones won the 1970 Trans-Am season opener in a Boss 302.
The new Mustang Boss 302 is powered by a 5 liter V8 engine that delivers 440 HP and 380 lb.-ft. of torque, and is mated to a close-ratio six-speed manual transmission. The cars gets revised camshafts using a more aggressive grind, a more aggressive control calibration, a Boss-specific intake system, and a retuned induction sound tube.
On the exterior, the Boss 302 will be distinguished by either a black or white roof panel and a unique fascia and grille highlighted by the blocked-off fog lamp openings and aggressive lower splitter. It will also feature a redesigned front splitter. It will be available in Competition Orange, Performance White, Kona Blue Metallic, Yellow Blaze Tri-Coat Metallic, and Race Red. On the interior, it will get a unique Boss steering wheel covered completely in Alcantara suede and Recaro buckets designed by Ford SVT in cooperation with Recaro. The Boss 302 will also have a dark metallic instrument panel finish, gauge cluster, and door panel trim.
Now that all of the technical mumbo jumbo is out of the way, we have to say how excited we are that Ford was finally able to approve a model that was good enough to be called the Boss. Hopefully, we won�t have to wait another 40 years to experience another delectable version of the classic Mustang Boss 302.

The Mustang was on the Car and Driver Ten Best list in 1983, 1987, 1988, 2005, and 2006. It won the Motor Trend Car of the Year award in 1974 and 1994.
In 2005 it was runner-up to the Chrysler 300 for the North American Car of the Year award and was named Canadian Car of the Year.

2011 Ford Mustang Features

For 2011, Ford is revising all the current model Mustang's engines. The new V6 will be a smaller 3.7 L aluminum block engine weighing 40 lb (18 kg) lighter than the outgoing version, and produces a much more powerful 305 hp (227 kW) and 280 lb�ft (380 N�m) of torque.

The current 4.6L 24V V8 will be replaced by a new 5.0L 32V V8. This new engine will have 412 hp (307 kW) and 390 lb�ft (530 N�m) of torque.

The engines will feature advance technologies such as TI-VCT; however direct injection will not be part of the package. The GT500 will be upgraded to a aluminum block 5.4L engine, with 550 hp (410 kW) and 510 lb�ft (690 N�m) of torque.

Shelby will release an anniversary limited edition Ford Mustang GT350

At the auction collector car Barrett-Jackson in the U.S. known American company Shelby presented the next version of the tuning coupe Ford Mustang GT - GT350. The car was built in honor of 45 anniversary of the appearance of the first classic "Mustang" Shelby GT350, which was released in the amount of 562 copies. The new model will be assembled in the number of 2,200 pieces.Specialists of the company with Shelby racing division of Ford made improvements to the standard five-liter eight-engine "Mustang" power of 412 horsepower, the addition of a firm mechanical supercharger. This has increased the impact of the engine to about 500 horsepower. The unit works in tandem with a six-speed manual gearbox. Dynamic characteristics of new items, which at Barrett-Jackson auction was presented in the form of ready for mass production concept car, not announced.
