Rumor: Upcoming Pagani supercar to be called Huayra

Yes, it appears that Horacio Pagani will go for an exotic name for its upcoming supercar: Huayra. For those who dont know (including 4WheelsNews team), Huayra is the word for wind in the ancient South American language of Quechua. The Latin America connection comes also from company founder Horacio Pagani, as he is from Argentina. Although some of you might consider this name stupid, you have to know that the current supercar produced by Pagani, the Zonda, is also inspired by nature.

Zonda is a regional term for the foehn wind that often occurs on the eastern slope of the Andes, in Argentina. Details are scarce, regarding the new supercar, but we do know that it will be an evolution of the Pagani Zonda, which is powered by an 7.3-liter AMG V12 engine capable to deliver 678 hp and 575 ftlbf torque.

With these numbers, the car can sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 3.4 seconds and has a top speed of 345.94 km/h / 215 mph. The new car is expected to make its debut in March, at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show! [via Autoblog]
