Mercedes-Benz SL 63 AMG

Inden Design have launched a new (and very expensive) widebody treatment along with some performance upgrades for the Mercedes-Benz SL63 AMG hardtop roadster. According to the tuner, the basic wide body kit is priced at 19,000, but to complete the look you'll have to dig out another 3,500 for the bonnet, 800 for the rear diffuser in carbon fiber and 999 for the front apron. And oh, did we mention that the assembly of the kit costs 8,000 and the lacquer finish an extra 7,500? Add them all up and you're already in 38,800.

For the 20-inch deep-dish alloy wheels shod in Dunlop tires size 275/30 R20 up front and 325/25 R20 at the back, you'll have to remove another 13,200 from your bank account.

An extra 1,500 will get you an electronic module for lowering the suspension, while Inden Design also offers a rear parking camera for 900, daytime running lights for 420, a sport exhaust for 1,200 and a power kit that increases output from 518HP to 560HP for an undisclosed price.

AMG has published new info and pictures of the 2009 SL 63 AMG that will replace the outgoing 2008 SL 55 AMG on its official site. Apart from the common aesthetic changes with the 2009 SL-Class (see here) that include the redesigned front-end and minor enhancements in the interior, the 2009 SL 63 AMG also features a new bodykit, darkened headlamps and tail-lights and new 19-inch alloy wheels.

However, the most significant changes are under the hood starting off with the naturally aspirated 6.3L V8 engine that generates 525 HP and 630 Nm of torque (SL 55 AMG: 5.5-liter supercharged V8 with 517 HP and 720 Nm). According to Mercedes-Benz, the new SL 63 AMG sprints from zero to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4,7 sec or 0,2 sec slower than the outgoing SL 55 AMG. -Continued

The V8 engine unit is combined with a new MCT 7-speed sports transmission that's apparently quicker than the standard 7-speed G-Tronic. Additionally, the 2009 SL 63 AMG also gets a new sports suspension and a new speed sensitive steering wheel system. Finally, there's also a new 3-stage ESP system (ON/SPORT/OFF).
