Super Car Sunday: July 31st

I returned to LA late on Saturday night just in time to get some rest for the Super Car Sunday event in Woodland Hills, Ca. It was Lamborghini vs Ferrari and there were plenty of them on hand.

Despite some rain early in the morning, a ton of people showed up at the Westfield Promenade parking lot. There were street rods and sports cars everywhere. I was on hand demonstrating our Golden Shine products, but our photographer was on hand to highlight the action.

A view from the second level of shops at the mall. Cars everywhere from 7am-10am.
See everyone there again at the end of August.

Donut Derelicts Huntington Beach, Ca

A Saturday morning institution in Orange County, Ca. The Donut Derelicts meet every weekend at a small coffee shop in Huntington Beach, Ca. My father has always been a fan of cruising over there on Saturdays for a hot tea and donut, so I joined him over the 4th of July weekend.

There are plenty of cars that fill the parking lot every Saturday. Hundreds of classics and muscle cars stop by for just a few hours early in the morning.

I am a fan of 60s Lincolns and Chevy Novas, so I had to take a few photos of these cars.

This car was pretty unique. We were pretty happy to find that the owner had a California Car Cover and California Car Duster in the cargo space.

Next time you are in Orange County, be sure to stop by the show. Just remember to get there early.

Golden Shine Road Tour Day One

The Golden Shine leg of the Street Rodder Road Tour kicked off from the headquarters of California Car Cover this morning. More than 20 classic cars left Chatsworth, Ca headed for Las Vegas, NV (our night #1 destination). Jerry Dixey, the Tour Coordinator, gave each participant a briefing of what is in store for everyone over the next few days.

My father, Jim DeFrank, and I, Tony, will be driving along with the tour all the way to our final destination in Pueblo, Colorado. We will be cruising Pops' 1957 Chevy all the way to the NSRA Nationals this upcoming weekend.
Our first stop was of course lunch. Most drivers opted to each lunch at the In N' Out Burger in Barstow, Ca which is about half way to Las Vegas.

Here is a view of the cars on the Golden Shine Tour from our room. After relaxing and regrouping the convoy headed over to the impressive automobile collection of Art Goldstrom.

Art's collection of classics, race cars and memorabilia fills quite a few buildings. It was quite a sight for the participants.
Art's wife is also a collector. I was a fan of her collection of vintage lunch boxes.
Though unrelated to the tour, I was excited to see the collection of NHL trophies on display at the Palms. The NHL awards are at the Palms in a few days, so it was cool to see all the history. We are done for the night and getting ready for our drive to Richfield, Utah tomorrow. We will be stopping at the Las Vegas Motor Speedway and Shelby America facilities on our way out of town.

Jerry from Street Rodder will covering the Street Rodder Road Tour blog as well. You can view his take of the tour on the Street Rodder website.

L.A. Roadster Show Photo Highlights

Every Father's Day weekend, the LA Roadster's Car Club host its annual show at the fairgrounds in Pomona, Ca. California Car Cover has been an exhibitor there for many years so it has become Father's Day tradition for the DeFrank men to spend Father's Day at the show. I took a break from the booth to photograph some of the vehicles and sights I found interesting.

The 1955 Chevy built for the Street Rodder Road Tour. You will be seeing more of this car in the coming week on our blog.

Even though there was some heavy mist in the morning, a fair amount of cars and spectators came out to the show.
